Mike Kennedy’s presentation will explore the history of real estate development of Austin’s central business district, uncovering the political, social, and business influences on local real estate develop­ment, current real estate activity, and how past influences and the current market will influence future downtown development.

Mr. Kennedy, Managing Director for Avison Young, has a long, successful career in the Austin Real Es­tate market and is recognized as one of the most active office leasing and sales brokers in the region. His notable accomplishments over the last two decades include the negotiation of the anchor leases in 2002 of Clark, Thomas and Winters, Akin Gump and Austin Ventures, which led to the construction of the 450,000 sq ft 300 West Sixth Street property, which when opened was the first Central Business District (CBD) high-rise building in the city in 15 years. He also played an integral role in the consolida­tion and relocation of Franklin Federal Bancorp’s headquarters at 111 Congress Avenue, the sale of the Republic Plaza building, the $21-million-dollar sale of Lavaca Plaza in the Austin CBD in 2000, the sale of the Chase Tower in 2006, and the record breaking sale of 300 West Sixth Street for $131 million.

Option 1:      

Park in the Chase Tower Building Garage at 221 W. 6^th Street.  Be sure to either stamp your parking ticket or pick up a discount ticket at the meeting to receive the $5.00 discounted parking rate when you exit the garage. 

Option 2: 

If the Garage is full, the Headliners Club offers a discounted parking rate of $5 at the parking lot at 600 Guadalupe Street (Lot P3010 which is connected to the Extended Stay America Hotel).

• Enter lot from either Guadalupe Street or San Antonio Street
• Park in any unmarked space and immediately head over to the Pay Machine
• Enter license plate into Pay Machine
