Please join Andrew Malahowski, Area Senior Vice President and Compliance Counsel for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., as he provides a summary of the key executive, agency, and legislative actions affecting health care since President Trump was elected on November 8. The presentation will provide a brief summary of where the Affordable Care Act took employers, and where "Trumpcare" is likely to go next. Andrew will review key executive orders, agency regulations, and other guidance, and will then focus on the American Health Care Act approved by the House of Representatives on May 4.

Andrew Malahowski joined Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc. in 2014, after twelve years in private practice in employee benefits law and employment law. Andrew was previously a partner with an employment and benefits boutique law firm in Chicago, Illinois, where he represented both public and private sector employers in a broad range of employee benefits matters. His counseling experience includes the design, administration, and drafting of employee benefit plans, and he has counseled clients with respect to compliance obligations under ERISA, PPACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and various other employee benefits laws and regulations. 

As Compliance Counsel, he assists the many offices of Gallagher’s South Central Region with both day-to-day and long term strategic compliance questions related to health and welfare plans. Andrew has also assisted clients with benefit plan audits and reporting with the IRS, HHS, and DOL. Andrew’s additional depth of experience in employment and labor law allows him to strategize with clients as to other areas affecting their employee benefit plans, such as labor relations, worker classification, and the management of employee leaves of absence.

Andrew is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, cum laude, and the University of Notre Dame Law School, magna cum laude. He is a licensed attorney in the States of Illinois and Texas.
