The local affinity bar organizations in Austin are hosting a fundraising and informational happy hour event next Wednesday, July 18^th at the Belmont. 

The purpose of the event is to provide information to the legal community (and any other interested person) about what the needs are for children and parents who have been separated from each other at the border. Donations and reciepts from the bar will be donated to RAICES, one of our local nonprofits that is helping reunite families and also ensure toddlers do not have to represent themselves in immigration court (this is actually happening right now!). 

This is not a political event!

Purely targeted at this ongoing issue, our hope is that people will come out and donate to a good cause and learn from both RAICES and the American Immigration Lawyers Association about ways that attorneys can use their skills to assist in bond hearings, representing children, etc.

The event is hosted by the South Asian Bar Association of Austin, Hispanic Bar Association of Austin, Austin Black Lawyers Association, Austin LGBT Bar, Austin Asian American Bar Association, Travis County Women Lawyers Association, and Austin Young Lawyers Association. The formal invitation is below and all are encouraged to attend!
