Session One

Prepping for an Office Move: Leases and Buildouts

In this panel discussions participants will examine all of the “moving” parts that go into the early stages of an office move. Our speakers will be key players in the process and we will discuss the following:

• Selecting the right broker
• The varying roles in an office move and how they work together: broker, contractor, property manager, project manager, architect, etc.
• What your internal team should look like
• New/emerging clauses in leases – with some focus on the Austin area
• Lessons learned in negotiating leases; what are standard clauses and what can be negotiated

Session Two

Law Firm Relocation Puzzle: How Do All the Pieces Fit?

In the first half of this panel discussion participants will examine the roles of the remainder of your move team. Hear from a furniture dealer, IT Manager and moving company as we discuss the following:

• When to involve your furniture dealer
• Best practices in moving IT systems (moving company versus internal) including servers, computers and phones
• Selecting and working with a move company
• Internal communications within your firm including by not limited to: notification of  post office, clients, courts, and vendors; changing marketing items and more
• A portion of this session will involve roundtable discussions among participants drawing on topics from both sessions; we’ll share knowledge, best practices and provide support and takeaways
